Banfield-Norris was surprised that by that pre-teen age, neither of Gwyneth’s kids had come to her with question before.

‘They hadn’t asked me,’ she explained. Meanwhile, things were different in the Smith household. Jada said daughter Willow, who was not a part of this segment, was asking candid questions about sex and her body at the age of five.

In her new series, the Academy Award-winning actress is diving deep into the mind’s of a few couples who are navigating intimacy issues.

‘I want to give everyone permission to be brave and connect with themselves and ask crazy questions,’ the 49-year-old Goop founder said.

‘Repressing sexuality and specifically female pleasure has been a mechanism of control for a long time. I’m an advocate for women to listen to themselves and become close and intimate with themselves. It’s time to undo those tropes. If a woman likes sex, there’s nothing wrong with her!’

In her new Netflix show, Paltrow teams up with five couples dealing with a myriad of troubles from marriages issues to past sexual traumas.

She helps the couples engage in exercises and therapies to overcome their struggles and further connect.

‘An astonishing percentage of women in our culture have had some degree of trauma,’ she said. ‘And it’s something we very much need to name and talk about, because it can get stuck in the body.’

She added: ‘It’s an acceptance of ‘I went through something that was really out of alignment with what I felt was right. And in some ways there was a breach that left me feeling injured.’ I think all of us have that to some degree.’

‘It’s very common for libidos to fluctuate. Whether it’s from exhaustion, too much responsibility, having kids or fluctuating hormones.’
