Bolshoi Performer Is Killed in Onstage Accident – The New York Times

A performer was eliminated throughout an opera at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow on Saturday when there was an accident throughout a scene modification, the theater said.
The guy, in his late 30s, was working as an additional in an efficiency of the opera “Sadko,” by the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Russian report said that the guy had been squashed by a piece of scenery, and videos of the event that flowed online showed it occurring as a backdrop came down to the stage. Performers waved their arms and yelled “Stop!” The music ground to a halt, and most of the performers walked unofficial while a few went to the rear of the stage to help the male. The drapes closed.
The program was stopped right away, the Bolshoi stated in a statement, and the audience was asked to leave.

“A terrible accident occurred during the Sadko production tonight,” the Bolshoi, among Russias most prominent theaters, said in a statement. The theater said it was assisting detectives as they sought to figure out the circumstances of the males death.
The guy was identified as Yevgeny Kulesh. He worked as part of a 50-person group of Bolshoi workers who function as onstage extras, supplementing dancers and singers.
Russian report stated that audience members had not initially appeared familiar with the death and appeared to think that the panic onstage belonged to the performance.
The Bolshoi has a history of unusual deaths and injuries. In 2013, the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet was significantly injured when a masked man threw acid in his face. That very same year, a violinist died after falling under the orchestra pit.
