Coaches of major sports, like Ted Lasso and Jim Harbaugh, stick.
Jason Sudeikis, the star of the Emmy-winning hit on AppleTV+, exposed on Thursdays episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers” that he relied on the University of Michigan football coach for guidance on the show.
Specifically on what Ted Lasso, an American who coaches the British soccer team AFC Richmond, must use on video game days.
Sudeikis told Meyers what he asked Harbaugh: “Hey, what do you endure video game days? … Do you bring, like, a little duffel bag?”
” No, I just reveal up in khakis and a sweatshirt,” Harbaugh responded. Sudeikis decided to keep Lassos clothing casual.
Added Sudeikis of talking to Harbaugh, “I feel like theres part of him that feels ownership over the character.”
Sudeikis got to know Harbaugh through “Detroiters,” the 2017-18 Comedy Central sitcom set and made in the Motor City.
Harbaugh guested on the series, which was executive produced by Sudeikis and Joe Kelly, 2 of the creators of “Ted Lasso. The U-M coach played himself having a disaster at a fundraiser (and offered a quite persuading performance).
The second season ending of “Ted Lasso” showed up Friday on AppleTV+. The Michigan-Nebraska video game takes location at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
