Hugh Jackman & Laura Dern To Star In Florian Zeller’s ‘The Son’, See-Saw To Produce Follow-Up To Oscar-Nominee ‘The Father’ – Deadline

Zeller is enjoying praise for his launching motion picture The Father, released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics in February. Adapted by Zeller and Oscar-winner Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons), from Zellers well-known stage play, The Son focuses on Peter (Jackman) as his hectic life with new partner Emma and their baby is tossed into chaos when his ex-wife Kate (Dern) turns up with their teenage boy, Nicholas. The young man is troubled, angry and far-off, playing truant from school for months. Peter strives to be a better father, browsing to help his boy with those instinctive and intimate moments of household joy. However the weight of Nicholas condition sets the household on an unsafe course.

Oscar winners Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (The Kings Speech), and Joanna Laurie of See-Saw Films, produce with Christophe Spadone (The Father) alongside Zeller. Film4 are co-financing production.
