The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading the examination, which is common for officer-involved shootings, according to police.

Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a report of somebody potentially equipped at Austin-East Magnet High School on Monday afternoon, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated. Officers found the suspect in a school bathroom and went into when he declined their commands to come out.
The student fired a weapon, and one officer returned fire, TBI Director David Rausch stated at a press conference. One officer was struck in the exchange and required to a medical facility for treatment, authorities stated. The trainee was noticable dead at the scene.
” This wasnt a school shooting, this was an officer-involved shooting inside of a school. Much various,” Mr. Rausch stated. “The trainee hadnt done anything with the gun up until the officers engaged. Its not a school shooting.”
